Just yesterday we from Fox’s uber-violent upcoming Deadpool, which stars Ryan Reynolds as the title character.
Now, Empire released another look, which includes our first glance at Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead!
The talkative mercenary character, also known as Wade Wilson, was created by artist Rob Liefeld and writer Fabian Nicieza. He first appeared in print in 1991.
Explains Wiki:
Negasonic Teenage Warhead (real name Ellie Phimister) is a fictional mutant character in the Marvel Comics universe who first appeared in New X-Men #115 (2001). She was a student of Emma Frost. An illusory Ellie appears as a member of the Hellfire Club in Astonishing X-Men. Grant Morrison has admitted to naming her after the Monster Magnet song “Negasonic Teenage Warhead”.
Reynolds looks like the perfect fit for Deadpool. He’s got the energy and the asshole attitude necessary to do the character justice. If approached right we might have the first comic book movie with a fully disposable lead. Deadpool can literally blow himself up just to vanquish a room full of bad dudes. The real struggle will be finding a tone that will lend credence to the character since he often breaks the fourth wall. We need a Ferris Buellerian approach to the character that has insane action on the level of something like The Raid. Will we get it? Looks like we’ll find out in February 2016.
Deadpool is scheduled to hit theaters courtesy of Fox on February 12, 2016. Directed by Tim Miller and penned by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Zombieland), the film stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlyle/Copycat, Ed Skrein as Francis/Ajax, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Andre Tricoteux as Colossus.
