Charlize Theron Rides Shiny & Chrome Into ‘Fast 8’

After constant rumors, it’s now official: Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road) has joined the cast of Fast 8, the latest installment in Universal’s high-octane Fast & Furious action saga.  She will reportedly be playing the film’s primary antagonist, following in the footsteps of Cole Hauser, John Ortiz, Luke Evans, and Jason Statham, among others.  If you ask me, she fits right in.

The franchise’s official Facebook site broke the news earlier today in the following statement…

“Our crew will face its greatest adversary ever in our next film as we welcome Charlize Theron to the Fast family.”

This will be Theron’s second film with both director F. Gary Gray and actor Jason Statham, having previously worked with the duo on the 2003 remake of The Italian Job.  Theron can next be seen in Universal’s fantasy epic, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, which arrives in theaters last this month on April 22nd.

Kristofer Hivju (“Game of Thrones“) has also been cast as a villain in the film.  According to The Wrap, he’ll be a henchman.  It sounds like Theron will be well-supported in her dastardly plans, whatever they may be.  The film is currently in production, having recently shot a massive action sequence in Iceland.

Fast 8 is slated to arrive in cinemas on April 14, 2017.  This latest installment in the Fast & Furious franchise is directed by F. Gary Gray, from a script by Chris Morgan.  It stars Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Eva Mendes, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Lucas Black, and Kristofer Hivju.
