New ‘Assassin’s Creed’ TV Spot States the Obvious

The upcoming video game-to-film adaptation of Assassin’s Creed has received a new TV spot in advance of its December 21st release date. This spot builds up to Callum (Michael Fassbender) being told, “You’re an assassin”. While I can appreciate that this is probably a very pivotal moment for Callum, that’s kinda the last thing we, the audience, need to see in a teaser. The name of the movie kinda gives that away, not to mention the fact that he’s doing a lot of assassinating throughout the footage… You can see it for yourself below.

Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

I tried playing the first Assassin’s Creed and could never get into it. Then I got the fourth game, Black Flag, for free one day and I still haven’t found the inspiration to pop it in and give it a shot. Someone give me a reason to try it out. Please?

Directed by Justin Jurzel, Assassin’s Creed stars the aforementioned Fassbender along with Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, and Michael K. Williams.
