A new trailer for the upcoming video game-to-film adaptation of Assassin’s Creed has been released and it offers the key item in the movie’s plot: an object known as the “Apple of Eden”, a mysterious object that can crush, “any impulse for towards independence or rebellion.” How that works is unknown, so I guess we’ll have to wait for the movie to explain this odd McGuffin.
Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.
Directed by Justin Jurzel, Assassin’s Creed stars the aforementioned Fassbender along with Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, and Michael K. Williams. It comes out December 21st.
