‘Escape Plan 2’ Locks Up A Plot

It has been awhile since we’ve heard anything about Escape Plan 2. Up until now, we’ve really only known that Sylvester Stallone will be back in a starring role and that the picture will be China-centric. The film is currently in pre-production and lucky for us, The Film Critic Catalogue has dished out some new information. Not only do we have a new actor added to the cast, Xiaoming Huang, but we also finally have a synopsis for the upcoming sequel…

Ray Breslin (Sylvester Stallone) manages an elite team of security specialists trained in the art of breaking people out of the world’s most impenetrable prisons. When his most trusted operative, Shu Ren, is kidnapped and disappears inside the most elaborate prison ever built, entirely computerized and constantly changing shape, Ray must track him down with the help of some of his former friends.

Which friends? Arnold Schwarzenegger has already been rumored to return as ‘Emil Rottmayer’, but will 50 Cent’s ‘Hush’ and/or Amy Ryan’s ‘Abigail Ross’ return as well? Perhaps even Sam Neill as ‘Dr. Kyrie’? Any and all are welcome, as far as I am concerned. As for the cast at hand, I am assuming that Huang will be playing ‘Shu Ren’, but nothing is confirmed on that front at this time.

This sequel to the 2013 hit is slated to go before cameras soon, ahead of what will likely be an early 2018 release. In addition to the producing team remaining intact, Escape Plan 2 also bears the original film’s screenwriter, Miles Chapman. Steven C. Miller (Under the Bed, Arsenal) directs.
