‘Deadpool’ Gets Animated On FXX

FXX has ordered a 10-episode season of an animated “Deadpool” TV series. The show is described as an “adult action-comedy” and hails from FX Productions, ABC Signature Studios, and Marvel Television. Are you on board yet? If not, perhaps this will pull you in: Donald Glover (yes, THAT one) will serve as showrunner alongside Stephen Glover, with Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb executive producing for Marvel.

This isn’t Donald Glover’s first rodeo with FX or Marvel. The actor/writer/producer/musician is the creator and star of FX’s “Atlanta” and he appears in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming this summer. His Disney connections run even deeper with his involvement in the Han Solo prequel and Jon Favreau’s live action redo of The Lion King.

Beyond all of that, however, this sounds like the perfect storm of talent. Furthermore, it’s a show sure to last awhile, as Deadpool popularity is at an all-time high in the wake of last year’s film. With Deadpool 2 on the way and Deadpool 3 already in development, it’s a good time to be a fan of The Merc with the Mouth.

Now the only question is whether or not Ryan Reynolds will come on board to voice the character. His price won’t be cheap, but with a short episode order, they’d be dumb not to pay him whatever he asks for it. Maybe even get Hugh Jackman to voice Wolverine for an episode? Okay, maybe that would be a bit too expensive, but securing Reynolds is doable. Make it happen, Marvel and FX!
