Barnum & Bailey Circus is folding up its tents this year after a final run. In the wake of this, many are looking back upon the circus industry with both fondness and a scornful eye. What better way to bask in its triumphs and tribulations than with a P.T. Barnum musical this Christmas? Fox is delivering just that, with actor Hugh Jackman at the center of it, in The Greatest Showman!
Earlier today, Entertainment Weekly unveiled the first still images from the musical motion picture. They showcase not only the film’s style, but also its impressive cast. Starring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Rebecca Ferguson, and more, Fox isn’t messing around here…
I don’t know if most Wolverine fans are up for seeing the Logan star trade swap out his killer claws for his equally killer pipes later this year, but I certainly am. I’ve always had a fondness for musicals and the fact that this one is circus-themed only sweetens the deal. The circus is a very theatrical profession and there are few corners of cinema more theatrical than musicals. This is shaping up to be a film we won’t want to miss.
