‘Supernatural’ Is Going Full ‘Scooby-Doo’

Jinkies! Zoinks! Well, this is a pleasant surprise! This fall, “Supernatural” will be entering its 13th season(!). The producers have already stated that they want the series to close out on its 300th episode. That means we should be getting a full 23-episode run for Season 13 and then a short Season 14. It also means that an endgame is in sight, complete with any fun surprises they can throw our way. Today, the just announced a doozy. Not only will “Supernatural” get an animated episode next season, but it will co-star none other than Scooby-Doo!

Kudos to for this bonkers, but absolutely welcome revelation. The episode will, of course, be animated in the same style as classic Scooby-Doo, with the regular “Supernatural” cast all getting done up accordingly. There’s no info on the episode plot at this time.

This isn’t the first time the series has flirted with pulling in an iconic character for an episode. The producers famously attempted to do an episode centering around Jason Voorhees about a decade back. That didn’t happen, but with the rights to the character reverting back to Warner Bros./New Line next year, perhaps it still could? After all, putting Jason or Freddy on the show for an episode as the show nears the end of its run is no crazier than doing the same with Scooby? Regardless, this is a genius move, as far as I’m concerned. It also gives this writer yet another reason to catch up with the series, after falling behind.
