2017 not only brings us our first year of three Marvel Cinematic Universe films hitting theaters, but also our first year of three MCU shows premiering on Netflix. “Iron Fist” had its inaugural season arrive three months back and on August 18th, “The Defenders” crossover series will arrive. We’ve known for awhile now that “The Punisher” would be our third Marvel offering on Netflix this year, arriving sometime during the fourth quarter. Now we might have a better idea of when exactly that will be.
When speaking to about her work on FX’s “Fargo“, Irish filmmaker Dearbhla Walsh casually revealed that she directed an episode of “The Punisher“. She also stated that it should premiere in November. Mind you this isn’t a concrete time of arrival. After all, Netflix is unlikely to keep directors up-to-date one when shows are scheduled. Still, the timing makes sense.
While “Luke Cage” premiered in late September last year, a similar date for “The Punisher” would be too close to the release of “Defenders“. More than likely, a date similar to that “Jessica Jones” will be in order. That series’ first season debuted on Friday, November 20th, 2015. The equivalent Friday this year will be November 17th. That falls a mere two weeks after the release of Thor: Ragnarok. On the flipside, the first post-holiday Friday after that will be December 1st, a mere two weeks before the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Which day it lands on is honestly a toss up at this point. Still, it’s nice to have a better idea of when to expect Frank to be ultraviolently cleaning up the streets again.
