Trailer: ‘Black Panther’ Looks Badass & Beautiful

What a way to end a Friday! After dropping the teaser poster earlier today (you’ll find it below), Marvel Studios has issued the first teaser trailer for Black Panther! Our final film before Avengers: Infinity War, it arrives in eight months time. What have director Ryan Coogler (Creed) and producer extraordinaire Kevin Feige cooked up for us? Let’s take a look…

What a vibrant, stylish, and exciting teaser. We already knew from his appearance in Captain America: Civil War that Chadwick Boseman fully embodies the role of Black Panther. We also knew that Andy Serkis and Martin Freeman were on point with their characters as well. What we didn’t know until was the vibe that Marvel and Coogler would be going for with this film. What I’m seeing here looks like a hi-tech Edgar Rice Burroughs adventure with a nice slice of espionage thrown in for fun. I’m also seeing a new franchise that clearly has its own distinctive aesthetic. In other words, I couldn’t be happier.

Black Panther is based on the character created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee. It is the eighteenth installment in the Marvel Cinematic universe. The film is directed by Ryan Coogler, from a screenplay by Joe Robert Cole and Ryan Coogler. The picture is produced by Kevin Feige. It stars Chadwick Boseman as ‘T’Challa/Black Panther’, Michael B. Jordan as ‘Erik Killmonger’, Lupita Nyong’o as ‘Nakia’, Martin Freeman as ‘Everett K. Ross’, Andy Serkis as ‘Ulysses Klaue’, Winston Duke as ‘M’Baku/Man-Ape’, Danai Gurira as ‘Okoye’, Daniel Kaluuya as ‘W’Kabi’, Angela Bassett as ‘Ramonda’, Forest Whitaker as ‘Zuri’, John Kani as ‘T’Chaka’, Florence Kasumba as ‘Ayo’, Sterling K. Brown as ‘N’Jobu’, and Letitia Wright as ‘Shuri’. Phylicia Rashad and Alandwa Kani also appear.

Black Panther claws its way into theaters on February 16th, 2018.
