Trailer: ‘Logan Lucky’ Goes International

Steven Soderbergh’s latest film, Logan Lucky, was already on my radar as a must-see 2017 film the moment it was announced. My excitement for it tripled upon the release of its first trailer. The man’s films are great in general, but they are especially fun when he is in comedy caper mode, as in The Informant! and the Ocean’s trilogy. Today, Fingerprint Releasing and Bleecker Street have released a new international trailer for the picture and it is just as entertaining as the first. We’ve also been given a more detailed synopsis for the film…

“The Logans are a hardscrabble family from the hills of West Virginia, and their clan has been famous for its bad luck for nearly 90 years. But the conniving Jimmy Logan (Channing Tatum) decides its time to turn the family’s luck around, and with a little help from his friends, the Redneck Robbers, he plans to steal $14 million from the Charlotte Motor Speedway.”

I still love everything about this. The fact that a good chunk of the lead characters now appear to be hailing from my home state only makes it better. Soderbergh is clearly firing on all cylinders here and the cast looks to be meeting him every step of the way.

Logan Lucky is heist comedy from director Steven Soderbergh. The film was written by Rebecca Blunt and is produced by Reid Carolin, Gregory Jacobs, and Mark Johnson. It stars Channing Tatum as ‘Jimmy Logan’, Adam Driver as ‘Clyde Logan’, Riley Keough as ‘Mellie Logan’, Daniel Craig as ‘Joe Bang’, Hilary Swank as ‘Special Agent Sarah Grayson’, Seth MacFarlane as ‘Max Chilblain’, Katie Holmes as ‘Bobbie Jo Logan Chapman’, Katherine Waterston as ‘Sylvia Harrison’, Sebastian Stan as ‘Dayton White’, Brian Gleeson as ‘Sam Bang’, Jack Quaid as ‘Fish Bang’, David Denman as ‘Moody’, and Dwight Yoakam as ‘Warden Burns’. Jesco White, Charles Halford, Jim O’Heir, and Macon Blair also appear.

Logan Lucky arrives in theaters on August 18th, 2017.
