[Trailer] Good Lord, ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Looks Wonderful

SDCC 2017 can’t stop. SDCC 2017 won’t stop. Fresh from the Con, Marvel has let loose the latest trailer for Thor: Ragnarok. The final installment in Marvel’s Thor trilogy, the film comes to us from director Taika Waititi (What We Do in the ShadowsHunt for the Wilderpeople). That alone makes it worthy of excitement and the first trailer only furthered that statement. Let’s check out the latest one…

Before cast and crew had been signed for this film, if you had told me that it would be my most anticipated entry in Phase Three, I would have called you insane. And yet, here we are. What can I say? I’m in love with every frame of this. Where to begin? Chris Hemsworth firing on all cylinders? Colorful and weird-as-hell alien environments? The hardcore He-Man vibe on display throughout? Cate Blanchett vamping it up as the Goddess of Death, with Karl Urban by her side? Rainbow warrior Valkyrie? Grandmaster Jeff Goldblum? The Fenris wolf? Hulk flying in a rage at Surtur himself? I need to stop, because I’m getting weak in the knees.

There’s an artistry on display here that has yet to be seen in this particular Marvel franchise. The cast is perfect. The story seems perfect. The images are perfect. The sound is perfect. As much as I loved both Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming, there’s a gigantic chance that this will top them both. It looks like the movie that those my age all wished Krull actually was when we were little. Bring on Ragnarok!

Thor: Ragnarok is the seventeenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the concluding chapter to the Thortrilogy. The film is directed by Taika Waititi, from a screenplay by Eric Pearson. It stars Chris Hemsworth as ‘Thor’, Mark Ruffalo as ‘Dr. Bruce Banner/Hulk’, Tom Hiddleston as ‘Loki’, Cate Blanchett as ‘Hela’, Tessa Thompson as ‘Valkyrie’, Clancy Brown as ‘Surtur’, Idris Elba as ‘Heimdall’, Jeff Goldblum as ‘Grandmaster’, Karl Urban as ‘Skurge’, Anthony Hopkins as ‘Odin’, Ray Stevenson as ‘Volstagg’, Tadanobu Asano as ‘Hogun’, Taika Waititi as ‘Korg’, and Benedict Cumberbatch as ‘Doctor Strange’. Sam Neill and Rachel House also appear.
