We learned not long ago that filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan‘s next film would be a continuation of the trilogy he began with 2000’s Unbreakable and finally returned to in this year’s Split. The final film, titled Glass, is expected to begin production early next year. We know that the film will bring together main characters from both previous films, but not in what way.
This past weekend has finally given us a better, albeit still vague, look into the story ahead. The folks at Cosmic Book News managed to score an official synopsis for the film, which is as follows…
Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men. This riveting culmination of his worldwide blockbusters will be produced by Shyamalan and Jason Blum.
What can we glean from this? Not much. David Dunn (Bruce Willis) is clearly still our hero and The Horde (James McAvoy) his formidable new foe, but the role that Elijah “Mr. Glass” Price (Samuel L. Jackson) will play in the proceedings remains shrouded in mystery. Is he still a villain? Might he switch sides and become an antihero? Or will he remain neutral throughout?
Also, where does Split lead Casey Cooke (Anya Taylor-Joy) fit in? Does she have unknown abilities as well? Will there be others with powers beyond just Dunn, Glass, and The Horde? Who is actress Sarah Paulson playing? Plenty of questions are left unanswered, but we have plenty of time to figure them out. After all, the film isn’t scheduled to arrive in theaters until January 18th, 2019.
