Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for their adaptation of the Jeff Vandermeer science fiction novel, Annihilation. The project comes from writer/director Alex Garland, whose previously iconic works include 28 Days Later, Dredd, and Ex Machina. Now for the film’s synopsis and trailer…
A biologist’s husband disappears. She puts her name forward for an expedition into an environmental disaster zone, but does not quite find what she’s expecting. The expedition team is made up of the biologist, an anthropologist, a psychologist, and a surveyor.
The film boasts an impressive cast that includes Natalie Portman (Jackie), Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Gina Rodriguez (“Jane the Virgin“), Tessa Thompson (Creed), Tuva Novotny (Possession), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange), and Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Last Jedi). If that cast and this director tackling a highly-lauded modern science fiction novel aren’t enough to get your cinema-loving juices flowing, I don’t know what would.
Annihilation arrives in theaters on February 23rd, 2018.
