[Trailer] Nick Simon’s ‘Truth or Dare’

Writer/director Nick Simon (Removal, The Girl in the Photographs) is currently an unsung genre favorite of mine. Both of the aforementioned films he has made are great and last year he majorly switched gears by directing the sequel to Syfy‘s creature feature comedy, Lavalantula. The title of this sequel? Why, 2 Lava 2 Lantula!, of course! I don’t know about the rest of you, but I truly appreciate it when someone’s fun level is that high.

Simon is back this year with another Syfy collaboration, although this one is decidedly more serious. The film in question is titled Truth or Dare and its synopsis is as follows…

“Eight college friends head to a “Haunted Rental” in a remote town for Halloween weekend. There, they play the game rumored to have caused the deaths of seven teenagers decades earlier, Truth or Dare. What starts out as vodka induced fun, quickly turns serious when the dares become sickeningly dangerous and the truths threaten to tear the group apart. When players attempt to refuse the increasingly terrifying tasks, they’re met with deadly consequences, quickly discovering: you must do the dare, or the dare does you. As the death toll mounts, the remaining players must race against the clock to outrun, outsmart and outlast the simple game of Truth or Dare.”

After watching a good psychological thriller, a brutal slasher throwback, and a blast of a creature feature from this man, I’m ready to follow him down any cinematic path he lays out before me. Truth or Dare is set to premiere on Syfy this October 8th at 9pm EST. You can trust that I will be tuning in for it that night.
