Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation director David F. Sandberg will executive produce and the pilot episode for “8“. What is “8“? It is a TV series adaptation of the Stephen King novella N, which is contained within his 2008 collection, Just After Sunset. Gaumont Television has partnered with 3 Arts Entertainment on the project, whose pilot script will be penned by writing duo Andrew Barrer and Gabe Ferrari (Ant-Man and The Wasp).
N, now 8, takes place in Maine where a group of eight imposing stones contains an ancient evil so terrifying that it can drive visitors mad. In the summer of 1992, three teenagers escaped the malicious force, and are confronted 25 years later.
Sandberg’s next film project is DC’s Shazam, which is supposedly on target to shoot early next year. At this time, it is not clear as to whether or not Sandberg is expected to shoot this pilot before or after his trek into the DC Extended Universe. “8” joins a long line of upcoming King adaptations that include Gerald’s Game, Revival, 1922, Rose Madder, “Castle Rock“, Suffer the Children, and It: Chapter Two.
