Jon Schnepp, director of the documentary The Death of ‘Superman Lives’: What Happened?, has posted the first ten minutes of his examination of the birth and death of Tim Burton’s aborted Superman film on YouTube. Famously canceled weeks away from production, the 1998 project would have seen Superman (Nicolas Cage) take on the likes of Lex Luthor, Brainiac, and Doomsday.
Schnepp’s documentary chronicles the project’s conception and ultimate collapse using behind-the-scenes footage, production art, and a bevy of interviews. Among those that appear are Kevin Smith, Wesley Strick, Dan Gilroy, Jon Peters, Grant Morrison, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, and Tim Burton. Check it out below!
