Neal McDonough Goes Darhk For ‘Arrow’

Arrow” has cast veteran character actor Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk, the main villain for the Green Arrow show’s upcoming fourth season.  The character was teased last season as a former pupil turned nemesis for the previous Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Noble) and his League of Assassins.  Darhk is expected to soon arise as thorn in the side of both Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and the new Ra’s al Ghul, Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman).

Given Darhk’s deep ties to the mysterious organization H.I.V.E. and that group’s own involvement in the death of Andy Diggle, brother of series regular John (David Ramsey), I think it’s safe to say that Damien is going to be causing a lot of trouble.  Few other details are known about the character and his place in the coming season, which is expected to have a bit of a lighter tone.

The producers have recently described Damien Darhk as…

“a mysterious and sophisticated villain, and an adversary of the late Ra’s al Ghul. Now the leader of his own clandestine group, this cunning foe will prove to be one of the Arrow’s greatest challenges.”

McDonough is no stranger to playing a season-long baddie, having done so recently on the hit FX series “Justified“.  He is also recognizable to comic fans as Howling Commando and Captain America pal Dum Dum Dugan in Captain America: The First Avenger and on ABC’s “Agent Carter“.  He has also appeared in such films as Minority Report, Ravenous, Star Trek: First Contact, and the 2004 version of Walking Tall.

Arrow” returns to The CW this fall on Wednesday, October 8th at 8:00pm (EST).
