Actress Camila Mendes has been cast as ‘Veronica Lodge‘ on The CW’s upcoming “Archie Comics“-based series, “Riverdale“. She joins the already-cast KJ Apa as ‘Archie Andrews’. Cole Sprouse as ‘Jughead Jones’, Lili Reinhart as ‘Betty Cooper’, Madelaine Pitsch as ‘Cheryl Blossom’, Ashleigh Murray as ‘Josie’, and Luke Perry as ‘Fred Andrews’. The pilot was penned by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who will also oversee the series alongside fellow executive producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Jon Goldwater.
Aguirre-Sacasa has been instrumental in reviving the comics themselves and turning them into one of the most popular books hitting stands today. He already has a working relationship with Berlanti & Co., courtesy of his involvement on their CBS show, “Supergirl“. “Riverdale” has already been greenlit to series and is expected to debut on The CW this fall.
