It’s hard to believe that it’s been a decade since the first live action Transformers film hit theaters. It’s harder still to believe that we have a fifth film in the on-going franchise, Transformers: The Last Knight, opening this summer. This latest outing, the second to be headlined by Mark Wahlberg, arrives in theaters in June and is expected to be director Michael Bay’s final time in the chair for these films. Continuing on to another Paramount franchise, we have the latest bit of promotion for xXx: Return of Xander Cage. The third installment in a spy series that star Vin Diesel kicked off 15 years ago, the action star has returned to the franchise (after sitting out the last one) and he’s brought a nice ensemble cast with him. I guess ole Vin is hoping for a bit of that multi-cultural/multi-national big cast magic of the Fast films to rub off her and produce him another go-to round of flicks. Speaking of franchises, Fox’s X-Men saga is finally entering the realm of television. Beginning next month on FX is “Legion“, the latest series from “Fargo” showrunner Noah Hawley. Set within the world of the popular X-Men films, “Legion” revolves around a disturbed mutant with extraordinary powers as he seek help to understand and control his abilities.
