[The Cinema Runner Movie Guide] March 2017 Edition

Apologies for not having this ready for last week. Despite our Blade Runner-esque moniker, we are not actually more human than human. We sometimes make mistakes! As a result, the first three films on this list are already in release. I suspect a great many of you have already seen Logan, but know that two other films also hit in wide release this past Friday.

As always, this monthly list only includes films slated for wide theatrical release. Dozens of other films will be hitting limited theatrical release and/or VOD as the month goes on, so keep your eyes peeled on that front. Enough jabberjawing, however. Let the March movie madness begin…

NOW IN THEATERS

BEFORE I FALL

“February 12 is just another day in Sam’s (Zoey Deutch) charmed life until it turns out to be her last. Stuck reliving her last day over one inexplicable week, Sam untangles the mystery around her death and discovers everything she’s in danger of losing.”

Based on the novel by Lauren Olvier, the film is directed by Ry Russo-Young and also stars Halston Sage, Cynthy Wu, Logan Miller, and Kian Lawley.

LOGAN

“In the near future, a weary Logan (Hugh Jackman) cares for an ailing Professor X (Patrick Stewart) in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant (Dafne Keen) arrives, being pursued by dark forces.”

The tenth installment in Fox’s on-going X-Men franchise, the film is directed by James Mangold (Cop Land, 3:10 to Yuma) and also stars Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, and Stephen Merchant.

THE SHACK

“A grieving man (Sam Worthington) receives a mysterious, personal invitation to meet with God (Octavia Spencer) at a place called The Shack.”
The film is based on the book by William P. Young, Wayne Jacobsen, and Brad Cummings. It is directed by Stuart Hazeldine (Exam) and also stars Tim McGraw, Radha Mitchell, Megan Carpenter, Gage Munroe, Alice Braga, Amelie Eve, Avraham Aviv Alush, and Sumire Mutsubara.
