‘Jessica Jones’ Season 2 Has Begun Production

Now that Marvel TV is wrapping up production on their remaining 2017 seasons for Netflix, things are beginning to ramp up for their 2018 slate. As promised, the first season out of the gate will be a sophomore run for “Jessica Jones“. Production has officially begun on the second season for the private detective superhero series. No arrival slot has been locked in as of yet, but chances are good that they are aiming for an early 2018 premiere.

Not much is known about the next solo run for “Jessica Jones” at this time. Krysten Ritter will be back in the title role, of course. Chances are good that much of the supporting characters will be back as well, such as Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor), Malcolm Ducasse (Eka Darville), Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss), and Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson). Melissa Rosenberg remains the showrunner for the series and has declared that all episodes will be directed by women.

Beyond that, we know nothing. A few threads were left hanging at the end of the first season, such as further questions about Jessica’s past. There’s also the matter of psychotic super-soldier Will Sampson and his cohorts. Will he become Nuke in the new season, as he did in the comics? Perhaps Jessica’s friend Trish Walker might follow the source material as well and become the vigilante Hellcat? I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing both happen in Season 2. My other hope is that we get more of Jessica doing her job as a private investigator. Let’s see Alias Investigations in action and give her a few cases to solve throughout the next batch of episodes.

In the meantime, we still have The Defenders hitting sometime late this summer and the first season of “The Punisher” supposedly arriving near the end of the year. Both, along with four Marvel Studios features, will absolutely help to pass the time as we wait for another round of “Jessica Jones“.
