Ever since “Iron Fist” debuted on Netflix last month, fans have been wondering when exactly the next Marvel TV offering would arrive on the streaming service. We already knew that the crossover miniseries event, The Defenders, was next on deck, but were lacking a premiere date. The wait is over. With a short announcement teaser today, Marvel and Netflix have revealed that The Defenders will arrive on August 18th. That’s right, at the end of this summer, all 8 episodes of the quadruple series crossover will be available for consumption!
This marks the second Netflix Marvel project to hit in 2017. A third, the inaugural show for “The Punisher“, is expected to debut near the end of the year. Below lies the premiere date teaser for Defenders. Hopefully we will get a longer teaser (or at least a few different short ones) in the coming months as its post-production is finalized…
The Defenders is a miniseries combining the characters and storylines of Marvel’s four existing Netflix shows: “Daredevil”, “Jessica Jones”, “Luke Cage”, and “Iron Fist”. Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez serve as the showrunners. The miniseries event stars Charlie Cox as ‘Matt Murdock/Daredevil’, Krysten Ritter as ‘Jessica Jones’, Mike Coulter as ‘Luke Cage’, Finn Jones as ‘Danny Rand/Iron Fist’, Sigourney Weaver as ‘Alexandra’, Elodie Yung as ‘Elektra Natchios’, Scott Glenn as ‘Stick’, Jessica Henwick as ‘Colleen Wing’, Simone Missick as ‘Misty Knight’, Deborah Ann Woll as ‘Karen Paige’, Rosario Dawson as ‘Claire Temple’, Eka Darville as ‘Malcolm Ducasse’, Rachael Taylor as ‘Trish Walker’, Elden Henson as ‘Foggy Nelson’, and Carrie-Anne Moss as ‘Jeri Hogarth’.
The Defenders premieres on Netflix on August 18th, 2017.
