Ewan McGregor Is Disney’s ‘Christopher Robin’

According to , Disney has found its lead for their upcoming picture, Christopher Robin. Star Wars actor Ewan McGregor will take on the titular role in the film, which is being directed by Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace, Finding Neverland). This marks the second children’s film that McGregor has done for the studio, following his role as Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast earlier this year.

Christopher Robin will see the Winnie the Pooh character all grown up, becoming an unimaginative businessman. Through a scenario that we are not yet aware of, he will ultimately reconnect with Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, and the rest of his childhood friends. Sound familiar? It should, as it’s basically the plot of Steven Spielberg’s Hook. While I have a soft spot for that film, here’s hoping this take on a similar premise isn’t as messy and bloated.

Forster will direct from a screenplay worked on by the likes of Alex Ross Perry (Queen of Earth), Tom McCarthy (Spotlight), and now Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures). Brigham Taylor (The Jungle Book) will produce for the studio. No production timeline has been laid out for this update of A.A. Milne’s classic creations.

McGregor has been a busy boy of late. In addition to his turn in Beauty and the Beast, the actor had the long-awaited sequel T2: Trainspotting arrive and he is currently starring in a dual role on FX’s “Fargo“. In the near future, McGregor is also expected to topline an Obi-Wan Kenobi film for the A Star War Story anthology franchise over at Lucasfilm.
