6. The Mummy’s Tomb (1942)
Lon Chaney Jr.’s first turn at bat with the character of Kharis is a solid monster picture. It has a nice slathering of atmosphere, a good cast (including some returnees from Hand), and a few good eerie moments. The only thing holding it back, beyond a cheap budget, is its fairly standard “monster loose in the countryside” plot. As a result, it’s a pretty good mummy outing, just not a standout one.
