Mario Bava’s ‘Roy Colt and Winchester Jack’ Out on Blu-ray Today!

Mario Bava is one of the greatest directors to ever live. Not one of the greatest Italian directors, not one of the greatest horror directors but one of the greatest directors period. He’s use of color is second to none and he’s one of the greatest to ever make something out of nothing. Days when he has a new film released on Blu-ray should be celebrated as national holidays because he’s that big of a deal. And seriously, if we’re going to celebrate an Italian in America in the month of October wouldn’t Bava be a better choice than Columbus? I think so.

Today Bava has two new titles coming to Blu-ray, both from Kino Lorber. One is his legendary Kill, Baby…Kill! but here at Cinema Runner I want to focus on that second release, Roy Colt and Winchester Jack. This is a western starring the wonderful Brett Halsey and it’s absolutely worthy of a purchase and addition to your home video library. Bava wasn’t as known for his westerns as his horrors, but he could handle any genre. Roy Colt and Winchester Jack is a prime example of that and it features some of the greatest dubbing of all time. Check out the trailer and Blu-ray specifics below and then head to and order your copy today!

Synopsis:
An unlikely film from the maestro of European horror, Roy Colt and Winchester Jack is a ribald comedy that spoofs the newly-minted conventions of the spaghetti Western. Brett Halsey and Charles Southwood star as two brawling buddies in search of a cache of gold coins. Along the way, they compete for the affection of a Native American woman (Marilù Tolo) but join forces when confronted by a common enemy: a maniacal Reverend-turned-gangleader (Teodoro Corrà)

Bonus Features:
New 2K restoration from the original 35mm negative | Italian dialogue with optional English subtitles | Audio commentary by Tim Lucas, author of Mario Bava: All the Colors of the Dark | Partial English-language soundtrack | Original intermission cards
