Trailer: ABC Shows Off Marvel’s ‘Inhumans’

Marvel‘s eight episode inaugural season of “Inhumans” finally gets some footage before our eyes! The ABC series arrives this fall, marking the networks third Marvel series and their fourth attempted overall. You’ll recall that the network fairly recently shot an unproduced pilot for an “Agents of SHIELD” spin-off titled “Most Wanted“. Television continues to be an ever-growing corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a total of six series produced to date , two more arriving later this year (this, “The Defenders“, and “The Punisher“), and an additional three arriving next year (“Cloak & Dagger“, “Runaways“, and “New Warriors“). Let’s see how “Inhumans” is shaping up…

This trailer is a bit vague, but let’s be honest, it’s a pretty weird property. At least compared to what Marvel has given us over the past decade. I’m not entirely sold on the “fish out of water” on Earth angle that seems to be a part of this, but everything else looks good. Given how cheap and messy “SHIELD” was when it began years ago, I feared the same might happen here. After all, even “Agent Carter“, as good as it was, had a strained budget. So far it looks like they have actually spent some money on this. The shorter episode order also gives me hope that this series will avoid the wheelspinning that plagued “SHIELD” in its initial seasons and is, to a lesser degree, also a sizable flaw with the Netflix shows. For now, I’m in for what’s basically “Game of Thrones” with mutants Inhumans.

Inhumans” is the latest addition to the ever-growing list of TV shows set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  Scott Buck (“Iron Fist“, “Dexter“) serves as showrunner for the ABC series. It stars Anson Mount as ‘Black Bolt’, Iwan Rheon as ‘Maximus the Mad’, Serinda Swan as ‘Medusa’, Eme Ikuakor as ‘Gorgon’, Isabelle Cornish as ‘Crystal’, Ken Leung as ‘Karnak’, Sonya Balmores as ‘Auran’, Mike Moh as ‘Triton’, and Henry Ian Cusick as ‘Evan Declan’. Ellen Woglom and Chad James Buchanan also star.

Inhumans” will premiere on ABC on September 29th, after a brief limited theatrical run of the first two episodes.
