After announcing its character roster almost three months ago, Freeform has the cast for its upcoming Marvel television series, “New Warriors“. A half-hour action-comedy show set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the series will be overseen by showrunner Kevin Biegel (“Scrubs“, “Cougar Town“) and produced by Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb. Now for the cast…
- Milana Vayntrub (“This Is Us“) as Doreen Green, aka ‘Squirrel Girl‘
- Derek Theler (“Baby Daddy“) as Craig Hollis, aka ‘Mister Immortal‘
- Kate Comer (“The Comeback“) as Deborah Fields, aka ‘Debrii‘
- Jeremy Tardy (“Dear White People“) as Dwayne Taylor, aka ‘Night Thrasher‘
- Calum Worthy (“Austin & Ally“) as Robbie Baldwin, aka ‘Speedball‘
- Matthew Moy (“2 Broke Girls“) as Zack Smith, aka ‘Microbe‘
That’s a lot of up and coming television talent, which comes as no surprise. “New Warriors” has not yet shot a pilot, which I assume will now be on deck this summer now that the core cast is in place. The show has already been given a straight-to-series order for a 10-episode first run by Freeform. This marks Freeform’s second Marvel series, following the also-upcoming “Cloak & Dagger“. That series lensed its pilot back in the spring and will be mounting production on the rest of its initial season this summer. Both shows are set to premiere on Freeform sometime in early 2018, although no exact date timeframe has been given.
