[Trailer] Disney’s ‘A Wrinkle In Time’

Over the weekend at their convention, D23, Disney released the very first trailer for their upcoming adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle‘s popular science fiction-fantasy novel, A Wrinkle in Time. The film is directed by Ava DuVernay (Selma) and features a diverse and impressive cast that includes the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Chris Pine, and Zach Galifianakis. How does it look? Pretty great! The visuals are wildly imaginative, the tone seems pitch-perfect, and the song selection seems on point as well.

Everyone in town thinks Meg is volatile and dull-witted and that her younger brother Charles Wallace is dumb. People are also saying that their father has run off and left their brilliant scientist mother. Spurred on by these rumors, Meg and Charles Wallace, along with their new friend Calvin, embark on a perilous quest through space to find their father. In doing so they must travel behind the shadow of an evil power that is darkening the cosmos, one planet at a time.

A Wrinkle in Time is an adaptation of the novel by Madeleine L’Engle. It is directed by Ava DuVernay, from a screenplay by Jennifer Lee. The picture is produced by Jim Whitaker and Catherine Hand. The film stars Storm Reid as ‘Margaret “Meg” Murray’, Deric McCabe as ‘Charles Wallace Murray’, Oprah Winfrey as ‘Mrs. Which’, Reese Witherspoon as ‘Mrs. Whatsit’, Mindy Kaling as ‘Mrs. Who’, Zach Galifiankis as ‘The Happy Medium’, Chris Pine as ‘Dr. Alexander “Alex” Murray’, Levi Miller as ‘Calvin O’Keefe’, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as ‘Dr. Kate Murray’, Michael Pena as ‘Red’, and Andre Holland as ‘Principal Jenkins’. Bellamy Young, Rowan Blanchard, and Will McCormack also appear.

A Wrinkle in Time arrives in theaters on March 9th, 2018.
