Walton Goggins Tangles With ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’

is reporting that actor Walton Goggins (“The Shield“, “Justified“) has signed on to star in Ant-Man and The Wasp, the upcoming Marvel sequel to their 2015 hit. Goggins joins previously cast newcomers Randall Park and Hannah John-Kamen, along with the original film’s returning cast. As of this time, there is no word on what role Goggins is taking in the production, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he turns out to be the villain.

Production on the film is slated to begin later this month. Little is known about the plot at this time, beyond the fact that it will be set after the events of Captain America: Civil War, which left protagonist Scott Lang a fugitive from the United Nations. The film will also see Hope take on the mantle of The Wasp and may involve the search for her mother, Janet. San Diego Comic-Con is happening this week, so don’t be too surprised if we start hearing more casting announcements and story details coming out of SDCC. This will be Marvel’s third release of 2018, following Black Panther (March 2018) and Avengers: Infinity War (May 2018).

Ant-Man and The Wasp is based on the characters created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby. It will be the twentieth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is directed by Peyton Reed, from a screenplay by Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, Adam McKay, and Paul Rudd. The picture is produced by Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Louis D’Esposito, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Mitchell Bell, Charles Newirth, and Lars P. Winther. The film stars Paul Rudd as ‘Scott Lang/Ant-Man’, Evangeline Lilly as ‘Hope van Dyne/The Wasp’, Michael Douglas as ‘Hank Pym’, and Randall Park as ‘Jimmy Woo’. Walton Goggins and Hannah John-Kamen also appear.

Ant-Man and The Wasp arrives in theaters on July 6th, 2018.
