‘Dragged Across Concrete’ Adds Johnson, Carpenter & White

Currently filming up in Vancouver, the crime thriller Dragged Across Concrete has announced more of its supporting cast members. Don Johnson (“Miami Vice“, Django Unchained), Jennifer Carpenter (“Dexter“), Michael Jai White (Black Dynamite), and Tattiawna Jones (“The Handmaid’s Tale“) have all come on board the film. They join the already-cast Mel Gibson, Vince Vaughn, Laurie Holden, and Udo Kier. Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment scooped up distribution rights to the modern police brutality tale earlier this year. The project is written and directed by S. Craig Zahler (Bone Tomahawk), whose work on Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich we covered yesterday.

The story centers on two policemen, one an old-timer (Gibson), the other his volatile younger partner (Vaughn), who find themselves suspended when a video of their strong-arm tactics become the media’s cause du jour. Low on cash and with no other options, these two embittered soldiers descend into the criminal underworld to gain their just due, but instead find far more than they wanted awaiting them in the shadows.

Johnson, like Vaughn and Kier, is re-teaming with Zahler on this picture after having worked with him on the crime film, Brawl in Cell Block 99, which is debuting at the Toronto International Film Festival this year. There’s no word at this time as to whether or not it will receive a 2017 or 2018 release.

Dragged Across Concrete is an original crime thriller written and directed by S. Craig Zahler. It is produced by Sefton Fincham, Jack Heller, Keith Kjarval, and Dallas Sonnier. The film stars Mel Gibson, Vince Vaughn, Laurie Holden, Jennifer Carpenter, Don Johnson, Michael Jai White, Udo Kier, Tory Kittles, Fred Melamed, Tattiawna Jones, Justine Warrington, Myles Truitt, Primo Allon, and Brett Alexander Davidson.

Dragged Across Concrete is expected to arrive in theaters in 2018.
